LFCCM 2021:
Sunday 16 May – Sunday 23 May 2021
After a hiatus in 2020 due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the Festival returned in 2021 with Ascensiontide services across London to launch a week of live events starting on Sunday 16 May.
- Our Gala Concert on Saturday 22 May celebrated the works of Cecilia McDowall, in her 70th year, with a programme of choral and chamber music works.
- We also celebrated the 80th Birthday of Sebastian Forbes with a teatime recital on Thursday 20 May.
- We welcomed The Byron Consort of Harrow School, directed by Philip Evans, to perform a lunchtime concert of Marian-themed repertoire on Friday 21 May.
- This year’s BBC Broadcast of Choral Evensong took place on Wednesday 19 May and featured commissioned works by Stevie Wishart, Joanna Marsh and Renāts Cvečkovskis, alongside organ pieces composed by Alan Gibbs.
- Choral Eucharist at St John’s Wood Church on Sunday 16 May included the world premiere of Martin Hindmarsh's Missa Brevis. Read more about Martin and the Missa Brevis.
